Dr. Anthony Fernandez
Dr. Anthony Fernandez was born and raised in Hollywood, Florida, where he acquired his first horse and learned the importance of the human-animal bond. After high school, Dr. Anthony moved to Laurinburg, North Carolina to attend Saint Andrew’s University, where he obtained his Bachelor’s of Science in Biology and was heavily involved in their nationally-ranked hunter/jumper and western teams. After college, he worked on a dude ranch in Colorado for two years as a ranch hand and wrangler. He then attended veterinary school at Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine on the island of St. Kitts. Dr. Anthony initially wanted to specialize in equine podiatry, but during his clinical year at Oklahoma State University, he developed a passion for treating all species. Upon obtaining his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 2017, he moved to Ohio to practice mixed animal medicine. As a veterinarian, Dr. Anthony pursued additional training at the Chi Institute in Reddick, Florida to become a Certified Veterinary Medical Manipulation Practitioner. Since receiving his CVMMP certification, Dr. Fernandez has enjoyed integrating his training into his practice, as it allows for a multi-modal approach to treat the whole horse. While he is currently only certified to perform chiropractic adjustments on equine species, he plans to obtain this certification for other species in the future. In addition to medical manipulation and orthopedics, Dr. Anthony also has a strong interest in small animal surgery. Dr. Anthony joined the Kessen team in 2021 and can be found treating mainly equine, canine, and feline species; however, he is open to seeing the occasional ruminant, pig, or exotic species. He is appreciated by our clients for his straight-forward personality and practical approach to veterinary medicine. In his spare time, Dr. Anthony enjoys spending time with his family, running, and going to the gun range.
